Events
Much civic pride is evident in the many and varied activities which thrive in the community including music, where there are numerous choirs, bands and groups that can be joined. The Wokingham Theatre is home to a lively and talented theatre group.
It is located at Cantley Park, Twyford Road(0118 978 53463) In addition Wokingham and District Arts Group promote the work of local artists and the Literary Society(0118 978 0809) the History Group(0118 979 1612) and the Wokingham Society(0118 978 6459)hold regular meetings.
Every year in the Merrie Month of May the Town Council arranges a Fun Day for children in Howard Palmer Gardens. This very popular event is held on the Saturday
before the first May Bank Holiday. Then on the May Bank Holiday Monday the Lions Club sponsored by the Town Council present a great variety of entertainment and a range of stalls(mostly charity)throughout the town centre.
Another event not to be missed is the Wokingham Winter Carnival this takes place in late November/early December and embraces all of the activities associated with the festive season including street entertainment, craft, gift and charity stalls and a procession through the streets to the Christmas tree in the Market Place for carol singing, the switching on of the Christmas lights and of course Father Christmas in his grotto.
