BILLY THE BEACON AND FRIENDS TEACH CHILDREN ABOUT ROAD SAFETY
Road Safety in Wokingham
More than 3,000 pupils at Wokingham Borough primary and pre-schools will be welcoming a special guest during the next three weeks (October 3 to 20) when road safety guru Louis Taylor teaches them all about how to cross the road safely.
Louis is an entertainer who has been running children’s road safety workshops for many years. He uses a variety of ways to get important road safety messages across including magic, drama and puppets – like Billy the Beacon who is hugely popular with his young audience.
Events
The events have been organised by Wokingham Borough Council’s road safety team to help children learn how, when and where it is to safely cross a road. Children also learn about why it is important to wear a cycle helmet.
Wokingham Borough Council’s executive member for highways and transport, Cllr Malcom Richards, said: “Teaching children the importance of crossing the road safely is a priority in our road safety programme and we’re delighted to welcome Louis back again to educate children in his unique and memorable way.”
