It’s almost time for the biggest national event of the year which will see many Wokingham Borough residents throw street parties, decorate their homes with bunting and participate in various fun events to celebrate Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee

Wokingham Borough Council is delighted to invite all residents, including town and parish councils, businesses, voluntary, community sector groups, organisations, multi-faith and local groups to take part in its Engage Wokingham website dedicated to celebrating The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

Engage Wokingham hosts a section dedicated to The Platinum Jubilee where residents can sign a digital congratulations card to The Queen, share their Jubilee events with other residents and the opportunity to contribute to the council’s reminiscence project.

There will also be a section on the Engage Wokingham website displaying the road closures in place for the extended Jubilee weekend which takes place over four days from Thursday 2 June to Sunday 5 June 2022.

Wokingham Borough Mayor Cllr Keith Baker MBE, said: “Let’s celebrate The Queen’s incredible, once-in-a-lifetime achievement by taking part in our library events across the borough, contributing to the reminiscence project, signing a congratulations card for The Queen and sharing your Jubilee celebrations with other residents. Whether you are holding a tea and cake event in the garden or a good old fashioned street party, The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee is the perfect chance for all Wokingham Borough residents to come together and celebrate.

“I would like to send my congratulations to Her Majesty The Queen on her Platinum Jubilee after an incredible 70 years of service.”
