Councillor stands down

Nicky Jerome

Nicky Jerome was elected to represent Labour in Bulmershe and Whitegates in 2014, despite these being Tory dominated areas historically.

However, one year after her diagnosis, the 38-year-old has made the difficult decision to stand down and concentrate on her health and recovery, while also assisting with mental health issues in the area by working with charities.

Jerome said, “Just over a year ago I was diagnosed with depression and anxiety. I have been receiving therapy since then and trying to keep on top of everything.

“I am now going to get more involved with mental health charities and work to promote mental health issues. It’s very important to me.

“There are things I am proud to have been part of… and I will miss helping out my constituents.”
