As part of its borough-wide sustainable travel campaign ‘My Journey’, Wokingham Borough Council will start work on a new shared footway and cycleway this autumn.

The new footway and cycleway will improve links between east Woodley, Dinton Pastures Country Park and Loddon Bridge and provide an alternative route to the busy Bader Way, eventually being extended to provide a direct link for cyclists to Winnersh Triangle business park and railway station.
The scheme will also improve access to Dinton Pastures and Woodley Museum of Aviation with the path being constructed with porous and sustainable materials in keeping with the country park.
Cllr Anthony Pollock, executive member for highways and transport, said, “This new footway and cycleway is a welcome addition to the borough and a step in the right direction in providing residents the tools to reduce their car travel, save money and improve their health.
“By reducing car travel we can also help to reduce congestion on Wokingham Borough roads and improve air quality around the area. This footway and cycleway is a prime example of the way in which the council is committed to providing its residents with more sustainable travel options.”
“My Journey”
‘My Journey’ helps residents travel by modes other than single car use which is done through a range of projects, working closely with community groups, businesses and schools.
The new shared footway and cycleway will be funded by contributions from recent developments in East Woodley and construction is due to start mid-autumn.
