Emmbrook Road Flood Relief Works
Emmbrook Road
Wokingham Borough Council is due to start drainage work along Emmbrook Road in Wokingham, from March 26, to alleviate flooding near the railway bridge.
A new section of drainage pipe is being installed between the bridge and Reading Road. The work is due to take four weeks, but for this to be done safely the road will be closed between the bridge and Reading Road.
Road Closure
During the road closure, however, residents will still be able to get to their homes with their vehicles, and pedestrians walk along the route. The car park at the The Rifle Volunteer public house will be outside the closure. Residents and the public-house have already been fully briefed.
“This vital work will help to prevent future flooding around Emmbrook Bridge,” said Cllr Keith Baker, executive member for highways and transport.
“As part of our collaborative planning, to minimise future disruption and ensure the closure is being used as efficiently as possible, we’re working with other utility companies so they can to carry out work they’ve asked to, between Reading Road and the railway bridge, at the same time.”
Diversion Route
The diversion during the closure will be via A329 Reading Road, Old Forest Road and Lowther Road, or this route in reverse. For more details please visit www.wokingham.gov.uk and search ‘roadworks.’
