Farley Hill Primary School – Update
The leaders from Farley Hill Primary School have been given a tour of their new school site in Arborfield. Headteacher Emma Clarke, business manager Nina Martins and chairman of governors Duncan Hamilton were given a tour of the new primary school being built at Arborfield Green.
Farley Hill Primary School Construction
Construction of school is entering the final stages, with all the modules for the buildings now in place. The new school will open September 2021 and includes community facilities such as an 3G sports pitch for use outside school hours.
The inclusive buildings includes generous classrooms, specialist areas for design and food technology, PE and dance, and provides the latest digital teaching tools such as interactive teaching screens and sound systems. Relocating Farley Hill Primary School address deficiencies in the current Farley Hill accommodation and will reduce traffic congestion caused at the start and end of the school day.
Head Teacher
Emma Clarke, head teacher at Farley Hill Primary School said, “We feel so honoured to be moving Farley Hill Primary to the new site. The building we have seen so far is incredible and we are looking forward to continuing Farley Hill’s exciting learning journey. All of the children, parents, staff and Governors are very much looking forward to the many new adventures we will have at our new site.”
Sal Thirlway, assistant director for learning and partnerships said, “I look forward to the opening of the new school building which will undoubtedly provide a fantastic education for hundreds of children in the years ahead. Emma and her team will be able to make the most of the range of facilities available on site, providing a rich curriculum across a range of subjects in their new building.”
Nursery
A nursery will also be part of the premises, which has room and planning permission to expand to 630 school places when required. The school is part of the Arborfield Garrison major development and is one of two primary schools being built in the area, with the second coming as part of a later construction phase. This follows the construction of Bohunt secondary school in Arborfield, which opened in September 2016.
Arborfield Green’s new school facilities are funded through developer contributions as part of the four major new communities at Arborfield and Shinfield, as well as North and South Wokingham, and includes an investment of £98million in new schools.
