Free Parking

Free Parking During Christmas Period – After the success of previous years, Wokingham Borough Council is delighted to announce that free daytime parking has been extended to Sundays in the run up to Christmas this year.

As well as free parking on three Saturdays (December 9, 16 and 23) across the borough, visitors to the borough can now look forward to free parking on Sundays (December 10, 17 and 24).

Free car parking will be available at:

  • Polehampton Close, Twyford
  • School Lane, Wargrave
  • The Paddocks, Wokingham
  • Denmark Street, Wokingham (council-managed section only*)
  • Easthampstead Road (east and west), Wokingham
  • Cockpit Path, Wokingham
  • Headley Road, Woodley
  • Crockhamwell Road, Woodley
  • Lytham Road (east and west), Woodley
  • Former M&S car park, Peach Street, Wokingham

Cllr Chris Bowring, executive member for highways and transport, said: “I am pleased to announce that we will be offering free parking for the three weekends running up to Christmas. This has always been a popular initiative and so I am delighted we have also been able to extend it to Sundays. We want to increase trade in our town and villages, particularly during the difficult construction period in Wokingham town centre, and so I hope that this can give people a good incentive to visit the array of wonderful shops we have on offer here in the Wokingham borough.”

Free weekend parking during December in the borough also coincides with ‘free after three’ parking in Wokingham town centre until the end of January. Throughout the week, free parking will be available at council-run car parks across Wokingham town centre from 3pm until 8am.

The free parking offer only applies to council car parks which are town centre related (not associated with train stations), and does not apply to privately managed car parks.
