Wokingham Borough Council has taken steps to improve a popular footpath. The route, which runs from Keephatch Road to the A329 is well-used by both runners and dog walkers.

The works were undertaken to prevent recurring flooding problems and to implement surfacing upgrades. The newly resurfaced path was created with limestone scalpings to create a firm but permeable surface with a countryside finish, which complements the natural surroundings.

In addition, several measures were instigated to prevent flooding; ditches were cleared in certain locations to assist in water flow and a new bund created on the top to help prevent water flowing over the ditch banks. The council will also continue to monitor water levels around the pat, putting additional measures in place if required.

“It is fantastic to see this popular footpath re-opened to members of the public. I am sure local residents will agree that the walkway is much improved and complements its countryside surroundings,” said, Cllr Parry Batth, executive member for environment and leisure.

“I am certain the newly refurbished path will be much-loved by local dog walkers, runners and walkers alike. We are always looking to invest in projects that will encourage our residents to walk instead of taking the car and it was a pleasure to see this refurbishment take place”
