Skate Board Park In Wokingham

Skate Board Park – Gravity Engineering has begun work on a new bespoke skate park on London Road, near to St Crispin’s Leisure Centre in Wokingham.

The new park will have three sections, allowing for more users on busy days. The main section uses a variety of heights and transitions which allow users to develop their skills and provide obstacles designed so they can progress their skills. The separate ‘rhythm’ section separates off faster routes, making the park safer for all and more fun for those who want to go at a higher speed.

The final section provides an additional area good for learning and skills development that will allow the park to accommodate more users on busy days. Work began on Tuesday November 21 with the removal of the existing metal equipment, before replacing them with new concrete structures.

The park has been designed with a user-group of keen local skaters and BMX riders and will bring St Crispin’s Skate Park up-to-date with the latest equipment.

Cllr Norman Jorgensen, executive member for environment, sports, environmental health, leisure and libraries said, “This is going to be a fantastic new facility for young people in the borough. The old equipment had become outdated and we know skaters and other potential users have been going elsewhere for better parks. With the new equipment we are putting in, we will soon see a thriving skate scene re-established at the park.”

Opening in 2018

The new park is expected to open early in the next year, with an opening jam to celebrate the new park in spring. For more information, contact communityengagement@wokingham.gov.uk.
