Ryeish Green Sports Hub

The former Ryeish Green Sports Centre is one-step closer to being updated and re-opened as the Ryeish Green Sports Hub after the planning application was submitted in April.

The new and refurbished facilities will include a new health and fitness gym, changing facilities, clubroom, car park and a refurbished sports hall.

These improvements, as well as the recently opened sports pitches, will create a dynamic sports hub in the western part of Wokingham Borough.

Plans

The plans follow a public consultation in 2015 when it was made clear that local people wanted to see the centre available for sporting, local and school use. The new sports hub will be available for use by local residents, sporting clubs and the nearby Oakbank School.

The planning application was submitted by Wokingham Borough Council in April and is expected to go to Planning Committee in June.

Green infrastructure manager Andy Glencross said: “It is exciting to be able to bring a sports centre back to the western part of Wokingham Borough. The facilities at the new Ryeish Green Sports Hub will serve everyone in the community, from local sporting groups and pupils at the Oakbank School to local residents. With the new and improved sports pitches, the new fitness gym, and the refurbished sports hall, there will be something for everyone.”
