South Wokingham Housing Development – Public Consultation
Residents are being invited to comment on planning applications submitted for a major housing development proposed in South Wokingham.

The applications are for about 1,700 homes to the south of the railway line and include a new primary school, community facilities, parks and play areas. The plans will also show proposed flood mitigation and set out how the developers plan to deal with transport issues.
“This major development is part of the long-term, agreed strategic plans for providing the housing we need here in the borough and we want to ensure the details in the applications are right. We are writing directly to residents in the area to make sure they are aware of the proposal and have the opportunity to provide their comments. They will also be able to see the proposals at the community forum next week,” said Cllr Wayne Smith, executive member for planning and enforcement at Wokingham Borough Council.
Community Drop In
The council is also holding a community drop-in forum on Thursday 20 June from 7 to 9pm at St Crispin’s School, giving residents the opportunity to view the plans and discuss them with the applicants.

A separate planning application is due to be submitted this summer for the next phase of the South Wokingham Distributor Road (SWDR) – the middle section of the road. Phase one of the SWDR, William Heelas Way, is complete and runs through the Montague Park housing development. Phase two, the eastern gateway, which already has planning consent, will connect Montague Park to Waterloo Road, with construction due to start later this year. Once finished the road will provide access to the 2,500 new homes in the South Wokingham area as well as relieve some of the town centre pressure.
