Wellington Road – Roadworks Starting Next Week
Wellington Road
Drainage work is due to take place on Wellington Road, between Monday 3 and Sunday 9 December, as part of the Elms Field development. To do this work, sections of Wellington Road will need to be dug up between its junction with Elms Road and Outfield Crescent. A single lane closure will be required with multi-way lights, during this time, to maintain two way traffic.
“Where possible our contractors, McLaughlin & Harvey, have continued to work out-of-hours or overnight to minimise disruption to local roads,” said Cllr Philip Mirfin, executive member for regeneration. Unfortunately, in this case, this isn’t an option due to the size of the trenches which need to be dug. I can only apologise for the disruption this will cause and ask people to bear with us while we complete this essential work.
“The team will be working extended hours to complete these works as quickly as possible, with traffic lights manned throughout the day and during peak times to ensure traffic can keep moving and minimise delays. As people can see, work is continuing to progress quickly at Elms Field with construction of the new Aldi foodstore and Premier Inn well underway and steel frames for the new Everyman cinema block in place. Works are also beginning to complete on the new road around the park, which is due to open early next year ready for work to start on landscaping the park and building the new destination play area.”
