Winter Reading Challenge

Winter Reading Challenge 2017 – Young readers get a collector’s bookmark and the chance to win a book in a prize draw. The challenge is free, and open to existing members of Wokingham Borough libraries. But it’s easy to join if they’re not.

In the challenge, children read three books to qualify for the prize draw, and if they want they can also write a book review to go on the Winter Reading Challenge wall.

Winter Challenge

The winter challenge follows the success of this summer’s Animal Agents event which saw nearly 2,500 children take part and read six books during the school holiday in return for collectors’ cards, a certificate and medal.

Nearly 110,000 children’s fiction, non-fiction, audio and e-books were read by the youngsters in the summer challenge. There were also a hundred events – writing workshops, theatres shows, animal visits, science sessions, and young volunteer activity sessions – attended by more than 1,300 children.
