Wokingham Annual Community Litter Pick
Community-minded residents will be out and about across WokinghamBorough on March 23 and 24 to take part in the Annual Community Litter Pick.
Each year hundreds of volunteers come together to make theirneighbourhoods cleaner and more pleasant places. The event is organised by Wokingham BoroughCouncil alongside town and parish councils, neighbourhood action groups,environmental groups and local residents, and aims to make the borough acleaner and brighter place to live and maintain a sense of pride within ourcommunities. The event is alsosupporting the Keep Britain Tidy Great British Spring Clean and aims to raiseawareness about the impact of littering and the effort it takes each and everyday to keep the borough tidy.
If you’re interested in getting involved, you can turn upfor as little or as long as you like. It is a great opportunity to meet localpeople and help keep your area clean. Litter picks will take place across theborough and for full details on each please visit www.wokingham.gov.uk/litterpick
No experience is necessary. Litter pickers and safetyvests will be provided, but participants are asked to wear gloves andsturdy shoes.Executive member for Environment Cllr John Halsall said: “The annual community litter pick is a greatdemonstration of the pride that our residents have for their local areas andtheir willingness give their time and get involved in making the borough abetter place for everyone. I am very grateful for the time that each person isable to give to this event and I hope that they are also able to have some funand enjoyment as well as the satisfaction of a job well-done”.
