Community-minded residents will be out and about across Wokingham Borough on March 23 and 24 to take part in the Annual Community Litter Pick.

Each year hundreds of volunteers come together to make their neighbourhoods cleaner and more pleasant places.  The event is organised by Wokingham Borough Council alongside town and parish councils, neighbourhood action groups, environmental groups and local residents, and aims to make the borough a cleaner and brighter place to live and maintain a sense of pride within our communities.  The event is also supporting the Keep Britain Tidy Great British Spring Clean and aims to raise awareness about the impact of littering and the effort it takes each and every day to keep the borough tidy.

If you’re interested in getting involved, you can turn up for as little or as long as you like. It is a great opportunity to meet local people and help keep your area clean.  Litter picks will take place across the borough and for full details on each please visit www.wokingham.gov.uk/litterpick

No experience is necessary.  Litter pickers and safety vests will be provided, but participants are asked to wear gloves and sturdy shoes. Executive member for Environment Cllr John Halsall said:  “The annual community litter pick is a great demonstration of the pride that our residents have for their local areas and their willingness give their time and get involved in making the borough a better place for everyone. I am very grateful for the time that each person is able to give to this event and I hope that they are also able to have some fun and enjoyment as well as the satisfaction of a job well-done”.
