Wokingham Coronation Road Closures
It’s set to be a joyous bank holiday weekend of celebrations, street parties and socialising for residents as Wokingham Borough Council publishes the approved road closures in place to celebrate His Majesty The King’s Coronation (6, 7 and 8 May 2023).
The council has made it easy for residents living in cul-de-sacs and residential roads to hold street parties in the borough by waiving road closure charges during the Coronation bank holiday weekend. The application deadline for residents to apply for a free road closure on the council’s website ended on 16 April.
View the road closures
More than 60 road closure applications have been approved in the borough and can be viewed by visiting the council’s Engage Wokingham website and viewing the interactive map or downloading the ‘Coronation weekend road closures’ PDF.
Assistant Director for Highways and Transport Chris Easton said: “It is great to see many borough residents and communities getting together to celebrate the Coronation through holding street parties.
“If you are travelling over the Coronation weekend, we advise you to look at the approved road closures on our Engage website and plan your journey beforehand. On behalf of the council, we would like to wish all our residents a fantastic time celebrating the Coronation.”
Share your celebrations
Residents who are planning a street party, afternoon tea or a public event can let other residents living in the borough know by sharing their Coronation celebrations on the council’s Engage Wokingham website. The Engage website features an interactive map available for residents to add their street parties and events to, view and attend events nearby, helping to bring the community together for this Royal occasion.
Residents need to sign up for a free account on the Engage Wokingham website and be logged in to participate in the council’s online Coronation project.
