Wokingham Council Launches Facebook Page To Help With Roadworks

Wokingham Borough Council has launched a new Facebook page dedicated to keeping residents up to speed with the roadworks around the borough that may affect their journey times.

The ‘Wokingham Borough Council Traffic & Travel’ page, which is administrated Monday to Friday during office hours, will update their followers on planned and emergency works to allow them to plan their routes in advance.

Cllr Anthony Pollock, executive member for highways and transport said, “We understand the impact that roadworks can have on journey times but unfortunately they are essential to allow us to update and maintain our utility infrastructure and maintain our roads so that they are safe for our residents to use. We are keen to continue to improve communication with residents by using social media and want to ensure that residents hear as much as possible.”

“We hope our new Facebook page, as well as other tools already currently available to residents such as roadwork.org, will make our residents’ daily commute a little easier when it comes to planning their journeys, allowing them to seek alternative routes in advance.”

The new page which launched at the end of November can be found by going to www.facebook.com and searching “‘Wokingham Borough Council Traffic & Travel’.
