Wokingham October 2019 Half Term Activities
It may feel like you only just packed the kids off back to school after the summer holidays but half term is nearly upon us. Don’t worry, Wokingham Borough Council have got something for everyone this autumn.
Whether you are in need of something to keep your little ones entertained while you’re at work or you are looking for inspiration for an afternoon out, help is at hand!

For an 8-16 year old hoping to be the next Ben Ainslie or Ellen MacArthur, Dinton Pastures activity centre will be hosting a junior sailing week over half term and are looking for young wannabe sailors to join in the fun. There are limited spaces left on the stage one and two courses that will be running Monday to Friday, 9:30am to 4:30pm, so make sure to visit the Dinton Pastures’ website soon to avoid disappointment.

The team at Dinton are also offering an exciting multi-activity day suitable for 8-13 year olds where they can try three thrilling activities including climbing, kayaking, stand up paddle-boarding, raft building and bushcraft. Attendees will acquire fantastic new skills through tuition and games. The course offers flexibility of booking from 1 to 5 days.
Loddon Valley Leisure Centre
Wokingham Active Kids team are also back this half term hosting fun-filled days for 5-12 year olds at Loddon Valley Leisure Centre where children will be spoilt for choice with activities including trampolining, gymnastics, judo, cricket, soft play and basketball.
Libraries
For a low cost fun-filled hour or two out then look no further than the borough libraries. The eagerly anticipated Famous Five session is being held at Spencers Wood Library on 28 October at 3pm. Children will be invited to create a picnic collage and join in the Famous Five treasure hunt before decorating Timmy the dog.
There are also a number of community events taking place over half term week including Emergency Services Day at Arborfield Community Centre on 31 October where there will be police dog training sessions amongst other fun activities.
We’re going on a bear hunt in Shinfield and we’re gonna catch a big one! There will be stomping stories, silly rhymes and light refreshment from 1230pm at the play area in Fullbrook Avenue, Croft Meadows, Shinfield. Don’t forget, we cant go over it, we can’t go under so we’ll have to go through it.
“There is a something for children of all ages across the Wokingham Borough this half term with a variety of events being hosted at our libraries, leisure centres and parks,” said Cllr Parry Batth, executive member for environment and leisure.
“The events will not only provide great entertainment for your children, but also allow them to gain new skills and maybe even a new hobby.”
