Wokingham Peach Place Toilets Open
The new public toilets in Peach Place opened this week – another step towards the completion of Wokingham Town Centre’s regeneration.
Opening Days & Times
The toilets will initially open 7am to 4pm but this is due to be extended to 10pm, from Monday 7 October.
“We’ve talked a lot to people about the regeneration over the years, and a desire for public toilets in the town has been a recurring theme,” said Cllr Charlotte Haitham Taylor, executive member for regeneration. “These new toilets are a great new facility for visitors to Wokingham town centre.
“As with the water bottle fountain, which we installed last week, we’ve been able to fund these new facilities as part of the regeneration works with income from the development funding their ongoing maintenance so they can remain free to use.”
The two toilets feature unisex cubicles designed to be accessible, with one suitable for wheelchair users. A folding baby change table has been ordered and will be installed soon.
“In addition to these new toilets at Peach Place, the council continues to run its Local Loo scheme at other sites in the town centre such as Oslar Coffee, the Brown Bag, the Red Lion and the Broad Street Tavern, as well as in council buildings such as Shute End and local Libraries,” said Cllr Haitham Taylor.
Local Loo
“Under the Local Loo scheme, the council pays an annual fee to local restaurants, cafes and pubs to make their toilets available to the public without them having to make a purchase in their business. It’s an excellent scheme which has allowed us to continue to provide public toilets for our residents right across the borough such as in Woodley, Wargrave and Twyford.”
