Wokingham Residents Reminded About Electoral Registration
Electoral Registration:- Wokingham Borough residents are being urged to respond to forms requesting information for the electoral register.
Wokingham Borough Council sent out letters to properties in August, asking people to check and update details for their address.
So far nearly 60 per cent have responded, with two-thirds of respondents using one of the council’s automated services. Now reminders are to being out to those properties that haven’t yet replied.
“It’s important that people respond as soon as possible,” said Andrew Moulton, Wokingham Borough Council’s electoral registration officer.
“This is so we can make sure we’ve the right details on the electoral register for every address, and so reduce the number of properties we’ll have to send a personal canvasser out to.

“To make sure you’re able to have your say at future elections, simply check the form when it arrives and respond as soon as you can.”
If your name does not appear on the form then you aren’t registered to vote.
“If you need to register the easiest way is online, and we’ll send you information explaining how to do this,” said Andrew.
“In any case, you’ll still need to complete the form and send it back to us. Otherwise you may miss out on the opportunity to exercise your right to vote and have a say on those issues affecting your life.”
Annual Canvas
The annual canvass ensures the council can keep the electoral register up to date, so there are fewer last minute applications to register when an election is called.
People who have moved address within the last year are particularly encouraged to keep an eye out for the form, and check their details.
